The war was lost. Again. Once again the Uncountable and Savage Hordes of the Ocs rose to the summons of a ambitious and evil Lich, Zulgha the Foul. Once again the war drums sounded and once again the call went out for the Waaauuugh! The Orcish hordes swept down from the mountains, the dark forests, and the deep holes of the earth. The scattered and unprepared armies of the Varisains fell and fled. With the magic of the Lich turning day into night the power of the Orcs was supreme and the land fell under their might.
__
Xorgth Stone-Breaker, Clan-lord of the Night-hunter Clan, rose to become leader of the Waaaaugh!! The grizzled old War-chief promised each clan its place in his new empire and many clans rose to follow him.
__
Village after village, town after town was looted and burned. Loot and slaves were taken and the feasting was good. The clans rose and more and more Orks joined in the slaughter and to share in the victories. Dreams of empire grew as the Orc Clanchiefs dared to think of another Hold Of Belzken rising from the ashes of the rich lands of Varisia. The armies of Humans and their allies broke under the Orkish tide and victory was certain.
__
Then, of course, the Lich was slain and once again by a small group of scrappy young heroes that managed to make it past thousands of Orcs, sneak into the Lich’s citadel of death-traps, defeat other-worldly hell-spawn and undead guardians, and destroy a thousand year old Lich in the full might of his magic without losing a single member of their band. Even their dog survived unscathed.
__
After the destruction of the Lich and the scattering of his magic, the Orks faced their first defeat. En-heartened by this miraculous victory, the allied Humans, Elves, and Dwarves rallied and the Lesser Clans faltered under the renewed struggle in the light of day. Led by a small group of heroic princes without the slightest grasp of battle strategy the armies of Good were unstoppable. Battle after battle was lost and the might of the Orks faded as clan after clan scattered back into their dark places abandoning the Waaaugh!! to save their own skins. Desperate the Orks, their backs to the sea, prepared for the final enemy onslaught ready to make a terrible last stand worthy of the songs of the Orks.
__
Xorgth Stone-Breaker rallied the last of his once mighty horde around the ruined human town of Glad-happy-butterfly-stone and prepared to meet his fate. Then a miracle occurred! Human pirates arrived, offering to carry the Orks to the safety of a new land in exchange for the loot they had taken from the Varisians. Without much of a choice, Xorgth Stone-Breaker agreed and the Orks faced a long and terrible journey across the sea. The pirates promised a land uninhabited by Men or Elves where the Orks could rule and plot their vengeance. A rugged land filled with danger and promise.
__
They did not lie. The lands presented to the Orks were vast and cold and vast mountains covered the horizon as far as one could see. The howling winds rent the waves as the boats made shore. Xorgth Stone-Breaker called together a council of his chiefs and shamen and gave thanks to the gods, the Gore-handed and the Dark Mother. Then they proceeded to slaughter the pirates and feasted well on their bones. The ships were torn apart for lumber and the great new Ork-city of Xuthakug was born.
__
During the feast Xorgth Stone-Breaker was challenged by his lieutenant, accusing Xorgth of leading the Ork clans not to a new world to conquer but fleeing a proud death after a ruinous war. Not standing to be called a coward Xorgth Stone-Breaker rose to meet his challenger, the war-chief Waruk of the Dawn-killer clan. The battle was fierce but short as the younger, stronger, and more sober Waruk slew the old War-chief in single combat. He also slew a few of Xorgth’s lieutenants, a pair of shaman, Xorgth’s first consort, and several Peons that got in the way.
__
To seal his command of the Chiefdom, Waruk Dawn-killer located the lair of a White Dragon which had been seen on the previous day. The new chief brazenly entered the lair of the dragon – along with a dozen members of his Ogre guard -and emerged victorious with the Dragon’s head and hoard.
__
Now, seated on his dragon-skull throne, Waruk reigns supreme in this new land. The hoards of the Orks scatter far and wide establishing his new dominion. Advised only by his Shaman and trusting to the strength of his three powerful sons, Waruk plans to build a great Orkish empire here in this new realm and, like Belzken before him….become legend.

__
For this he knows he must gather about him the strong and the cunning. Orks that will tame the savage lands for him and bring his enemies to their knees. That will carry his banner and lead his armies. To become the axe-weilders and the banner planters.
